According to industry sources, the Cupertino-based tech giant is betting on a radical hardware shift to achieve this price point.

Breaking Tradition: iPhone Chip in a MacBook
Unlike previous MacBook models powered by the company’s high-performance M-series processors, the new budget-friendly model is expected to feature the A18 Pro chip — the same processor found in the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro. This marks a significant departure from Apple’s long-standing strategy of reserving iPhone chips exclusively for mobile devices.
Industry analysts suggest the move could be a calculated gamble. While the A18 Pro is powerful enough for everyday computing, it may not match the heavy-duty performance of Apple’s M1, M2, or the latest M3 chips in professional-grade MacBooks.
