Chandigarh, 14th Sept: Former Chandigarh MP and Additional Solicitor General of India Satya Pal Jain on Sunday described apologizing for one’s mistakes or objectionable remarks as “the best human thought and behaviour,” stressing that timely reconciliation strengthens social harmony.

Speaking as chief guest at the ‘Kshamavani’ programme organised by the Jain community at Shri Digambar Jain Temple, Sector 27B, Jain said that resolving differences early “brings sweetness in social relations and reduces unnecessary tension in society.”

He highlighted that while all faiths value the act of apology, Jainism has set a unique example by celebrating forgiveness as an annual festival. “In social life, people sometimes utter words that hurt others. Initial resentment can later turn into enmity, causing great loss to all parties. The Jain festival of apology offers an opportunity each year to end such bitterness before it escalates,” he observed.

During the event, the Jain community honoured Satya Pal Jain for his contribution to public life and for championing the spirit of reconciliation.
