New Delhi, 29th April. The Press Club of India (PCI) General Secretary Vinay Kumar stated that the annual election of PCI will be held on May 21, 2022.
An official letter released in this regard said, “In the continuation of the adjourned Annual General Meeting of the Members of the Press Club of India (PCI or Club) held on September 30th 2021, we hereby issue notice for the same. The PCI annual election will be held on Saturday, the 21st May, 2022, from 10.00 A.M. onwards at 1, Raisina Road, New Delhi-110001.”
ELECTION NOTICE-2022 The letter stated, “To hold the Election of Office Bearers and Members of Managing Committee of the Press Club of India on 10th April, 2021 as per the decision of managing committee dt. April 22nd, 2022 and for this purpose, Mr. MMC Sharma has been appointed as the Chief Election Officer and three Deputy Chief Election Officers (Mr. Subhash Chander, Mrs. Vijay Lakshmi and Mr. J R Nautiyal)”
It added, “The Managing Committee resolves that the election schedule, including the voting, will be postponed in the event of Covid-19 cases rising in Delhi and NCR and the positivity rate going up. All government guidelines and DDMA directives/orders should be followed by the Election Officers in consultation with the MC and office bearers.”
The letter further mentioned, “All the ordinary members who cleared their dues upto March 31st, 2022 will be entitled to vote.”
Posts on which the election will be held are Election of 5 (Five) office bearers, namely- President (one) 2. Vice-President (one) 3. Secretary General (one) 4. Joint Secretary (one) 5. Treasurer (one).
Elections will be held for 16 members of the managing committee as well.
Nomination will be filed from May 10, 2022 to May 14, 2022 and the scrutiny of the nomination will be done on May 14,2022.
Candidates can withdraw the nomination starting from May 14 till May 16, 2022.
As stated earlier, polling will be held on May 21, 2022.
Counting of votes and results will be announced on May 22, 2022.
All ordinary members who have cleared their dues either by cheque or cash at the time of voting are entitled to vote.
MMC Sharma has been appointed as the Chief Election Officer, while Subhash Chander, Vijay Lakshmi and J R Nautiyal as Deputy Chief Election officers.
RC Tanwar, Vinod Sethi, IPS Bawa, Neeraj Kumar Roy, Manish Beher and Niranjan Kumar will be the Election Officers.
