Vrindavan, 10th Dec: The legal troubles of Vrindavan preacher Aniruddhacharya escalated on Wednesday after the Chief Judicial Magistrate admitted a complaint against him for allegedly making derogatory remarks about women in a viral video. The petition was moved by Meera Rathore, Agra district president of the Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha, after police reportedly declined to register an FIR despite an earlier complaint.
The controversy stems from an October video in which Aniruddhacharya allegedly claimed that young women enter multiple relationships before marriage — a comment that drew sharp criticism and sparked public uproar. Rathore argued that the remarks insulted women and were unbecoming of a religious figure, prompting her decision to approach the court.
With the CJM Court now taking cognisance of the matter, the case will proceed to the next stage. The complainant’s statement is scheduled to be recorded on January 1.
Responding earlier to the uproar, Aniruddhacharya said his comments were distorted and that he was speaking about moral conduct among both men and women. The case will now be examined under judicial proceedings as the Winter Session political climate heightens scrutiny around the controversy.
