Haridwar, 22nd Jan: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a two-day visit to Uttarakhand, with a packed schedule in Haridwar and Rishikesh focusing on healthcare, spirituality, Indian culture and social service. The visit is being considered significant for the state, aligning with the government’s vision of development rooted in tradition.
On Thursday at 10:00 a.m., the Home Minister will inaugurate the Patanjali Emergency and Critical Care Hospital at Maharshi Dayanand Gram in Patanjali Yogpeeth. The newly launched facility is expected to strengthen emergency healthcare services in Haridwar and nearby regions, ensuring timely and advanced treatment for critically ill patients.
Spiritual Engagement at Shanti Kunj
Following the hospital inauguration, Amit Shah will visit Gayatri Teerth Shanti Kunj at 10:45 a.m. He will offer prayers at the Akhanda Jyoti and interact with members of the Gayatri Parivar.
The visit highlights the Gayatri Parivar’s role in spiritual awakening, social reform and value-based nation-building, which has influenced generations across India and abroad.
Centenary Celebrations at Bairagi Island
Later in the day, the Home Minister will attend a massive public programme at Bairagi Island, Haridwar, organised to mark the birth centenary of Param Vandaniya Mata Bhagwati Devi Sharma along with the Akhanda Deep Centenary Year celebrations.
The Centenary Year Celebration 2026 is expected to see participation from devotees, scholars and dignitaries from India and overseas. Amit Shah will address the gathering and commend the Gayatri Parivar for its long-standing contribution to social upliftment, moral values and spiritual consciousness.
Praise for Gita Press in Rishikesh
Earlier on Wednesday, Amit Shah attended the release ceremony of the centenary edition of ‘Kalyan’ magazine at Gita Bhawan in Rishikesh. He described Gita Press and Kalyan magazine as pillars of India’s cultural and spiritual renaissance over the past century.
Addressing the audience, the Home Minister said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Indian culture has been placed at the centre of national policymaking, a vision that mirrors the timeless mission of Gita Press.
He paid rich tributes to Hanuman Prasad Poddar, the founder of Gita Press, calling him a “karmayogi” who dedicated his life to strengthening Sanatan Dharma and spreading Indian values across generations.
During his visit, Amit Shah also offered prayers at the Lakshminarayan Temple and paid homage to Maa Ganga, blending spiritual reverence with cultural celebration.
