Union Home Minister Amit Shah, speaking at the ET NOW Global Business Summit 2024, made bold predictions about the outcome of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Shah confidently asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would secure a staggering 370 seats, with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) crossing the 400-seat mark, ensuring a third consecutive term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.

Shah’s remarks emphasized the BJP’s achievements, including the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, which he believes will resonate with voters and lead to a decisive victory for the party.

In response to queries about potential alliances, Shah hinted at the possibility of more regional parties joining the NDA but maintained the BJP’s stance on selective partnerships. He underlined the BJP’s commitment to development, framing the upcoming elections as a choice between progress and empty rhetoric.

Shah also slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, questioning his legitimacy to lead such a march given his party’s historical role in the partition of India.

Regarding economic matters, Shah defended the government’s decision to release a white paper on the state of the economy, citing the need for transparency and accountability. He highlighted the government’s efforts in reviving the economy and combating corruption.

Addressing issues like the Ram temple in Ayodhya and the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), Shah reiterated the government’s stance, emphasizing the importance of upholding Hindu sentiments and ensuring the welfare of persecuted minorities from neighboring countries.

Lastly, Shah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing a Uniform Civil Code, framing it as a secular necessity and a constitutional agenda that had been neglected by previous administrations.

With Shah’s optimistic projections and the BJP’s strategic positioning on key issues, the stage is set for a fiercely contested Lok Sabha election with significant implications for the future of Indian politics.
