Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated the Gandhinagar Premier League (GPL) in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Monday, alongside dignitaries including Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel.

In his address, Shah highlighted the recent Sansad Khelkood Mahotsav initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Gandhinagar, which saw over 1,37,000 players participating in 42 sports disciplines.

Shah emphasized the importance of promoting sports culture among children, mentioning Prime Minister Modi’s appeal to Members of Parliament nationwide to organize similar sports festivals.

Shah articulated the government’s vision to enhance India’s standing in global sports, aiming for top positions in the Olympic medal tally by the centenary of independence.

He emphasized the role of youth in building upon the foundation laid by Prime Minister Modi, promising comprehensive measures for sports infrastructure, player training, transparent selection processes, and player well-being in the future.
