Along with megaprojects worth Rs. 11,600 crore, PM Modi holds a roadshow in Assam

Guwahati, 4th Feb. On Sunday, Assamese development projects valued at approximately Rs 11,600 crore were unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prior to his speech at this public gathering at the Khanapara Veterinary College Playground, where numerous state and federal projects will be launched, Modi conducted a roadshow.

The construction of a new sports complex in Chandrapur, the six-lane road from the new airport terminal in Guwahati, the renovation of Nehru Stadium to FIFA standards, and the Kamakhya temple corridor are some of the significant projects for which foundation stones will be laid.

The roads of Asom Mala

The PM will also launch Asom Mala roads, the second edition. This phase will cost Rs 3,444 crore in total and include 38 concrete bridges and 43 new roads. In addition, Modi will lay the cornerstone for the Rs 3,250 crore integrated new building that will house the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. In addition, he will lay the cornerstones for the proposed Rs 297-crore Unity Mall in Guwahati and the Rs 578-crore Karimganj Medical College and Hospital.

 

The newly built four-lane road from Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur, which cost Rs 1,451 crore, and the additional four-lane road from Dolabari to Jamuguri, which cost Rs 592 crore, will be officially opened by the prime minister. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated, “The prime minister will lay foundation stones or inaugurate projects worth Rs 11,599 crore, funded by both state government and the Center.”

 

Modi is expected to return on Sunday afternoon following the event. The Prime Minister spent the night at the Koinadhara State Guest House after arriving at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport from Odisha on Saturday evening. In addition to significant road, rail, and higher education projects, he also laid the groundwork for projects totaling more than Rs 68,000 crore in Sambalpur, Odisha, which will enhance the energy sector by utilizing coal, natural gas, and power generation. He also had a tour of the IIM Sambalpur model and the occasion-specific photo exhibition.
