Veteran IAF officer with 7,000 flying hours assumes key Air HQ role

New Delhi, 2nd Dec: Air Marshal Tejbir Singh today assumed charge as the Director General (Inspection & Safety) at Air Headquarters. His appointment marks the continuation of a distinguished 37-year career in the Indian Air Force.

An accomplished officer with extensive operational experience, Air Marshal Singh has logged more than 7,000 hours of flying. He played a key role in the induction of the C-130J ‘Super Hercules’ aircraft in the IAF and was instrumental in establishing the first Special Operations Squadron designed for joint operations.

Over the years, he has held several pivotal command and staff roles, including Air Attaché to Bangladesh, Senior Directing Staff (Air) at the National Defence College, and Assistant Chief of Air Staff Operations (Transport & Helicopters) at Air HQ. He is also an alumnus of the Royal College of Defence Studies, UK.

The Air Marshal has commanded two major flying bases, a premier training base, and a frontline operational airbase supporting the Northern sector. In his most recent role as Senior Air Staff Officer, HQ Training Command, he led a strategic overhaul of training systems to better align with operational needs.

For his exemplary service, he has been honoured with the Vayu Sena Medal (2010) and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (2018).

He takes over from Air Marshal Makarand Bhaskar Ranade, who superannuated on November 30 after 39 years of distinguished service.
