New Delhi, 24th March: An Air India flight en route from Bengaluru to London Heathrow was diverted to Jeddah on Monday after a suspected technical issue, the airline confirmed.

Flight AI133, operated by a Boeing 787-8 aircraft, had been airborne for over six hours before the crew decided to make a precautionary diversion in line with safety protocols.

According to the airline, the aircraft landed safely at Jeddah Airport at 7:58 PM IST. “All passengers and crew are safe,” an official spokesperson said, adding that the plane is currently undergoing detailed technical inspections.

The airline is coordinating with local authorities at Jeddah to ensure assistance for passengers, including arrangements for onward travel.

Flight tracking data from Flightradar24 showed that the aircraft had covered a substantial portion of its journey before the diversion.

While the exact nature of the technical issue has not been disclosed, the incident comes amid heightened focus on aviation safety, with airlines maintaining strict adherence to precautionary measures during in-flight anomalies.
