Muscat, 2nd March: Air India Express has announced the resumption of select flight operations to and from Muscat starting March 3, becoming the first Indian airline to restore services on the Oman route following recent regional disruptions.
The airline will operate scheduled services between Muscat and New Delhi, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mangaluru, Mumbai and Tiruchirappalli. Currently the only Indian carrier serving the Muscat sector, the move is seen as a major relief for passengers travelling between India and Oman.
An airline spokesperson confirmed that operations to Muscat would resume from March 3 with the listed destinations.
The announcement comes amid gradual restoration of air services in parts of the Gulf. Etihad Airways has scheduled 15 special flights from Abu Dhabi to assist stranded passengers, including four services to Indian cities. Meanwhile, Emirates will begin operating a limited number of flights from the evening of March 2, with the first Muscat departure to Tiruchirappalli scheduled at 10:25 local time.
Passengers have been advised to check real-time flight status updates on the airline’s official website and ensure contact details are updated to receive notifications. Change and cancellation fee waivers can be accessed through the “Manage Booking” section online.
The airline also reminded customers of its 24/7 AI-powered digital assistant “Tia,” available via website and WhatsApp support.
However, Air India Express confirmed that services to Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE will remain suspended until 23:59 hrs IST on March 3, 2026.
The resumption of Muscat services is expected to ease travel disruptions on a key Gulf corridor widely used by Indian expatriates and business travellers.
