New Delhi, 17th Oct. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set ambitious goals for India’s space exploration endeavors. During a meeting on Tuesday to review the preparedness of the Gaganyaan mission and the crew escape system test vehicle, PM Modi directed scientists to aim for an Indian space station by 2035 and to send the first Indian to the Moon by 2040.

The meeting confirmed that the mission is on track for launch in 2025. PM Modi also outlined plans for interplanetary missions, including a Venus Orbiter Mission and a Mars Lander.

He emphasized the need to build on the success of previous space initiatives, such as the Chandrayaan-3 and Aditya L1 missions.

To achieve these goals, the Department of Space will develop a roadmap for Moon exploration, which will involve a series of Chandrayaan missions, the development of a Next Generation Launch Vehicle, the construction of a new launch pad, and the establishment of human-centric laboratories and associated technologies.

The Department of Space provided an overview of the Gaganyaan Mission, highlighting the progress made in developing human-rated launch vehicles and system qualification.

Around 20 major tests, including three uncrewed missions of the Human Rated Launch Vehicle, are planned.
