AI or Scandal? Punjab Minister Ravjot Singh Denies Viral Photos, Akalis Demand Sacking, AAP Backs Him

Chandigarh, 18th June: A fresh political storm has erupted in Punjab ahead of the Ludhiana bypoll, after Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia posted intimate photos of state minister Ravjot Singh with a woman, demanding his immediate dismissal from the cabinet.
Majithia alleged misconduct, accusing Singh of “playing with the dignity of daughters and sisters”, and tagged AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in a post on X, urging them to sack and expel the minister from the party.
Ravjot Singh, however, has vehemently denied the allegations, claiming that the images are AI-generated and feature his ex-wife. He announced plans to file a police complaint and a defamation case against Majithia. “This is not just a personal attack but a calculated caste-based and political conspiracy,” the minister said in a Facebook post.
Singh said the attack was aimed at maligning him just two days before the crucial Ludhiana by-election, calling it a reflection of the opposition’s “desperation” and fear of defeat.
Backing the embattled minister, AAP Punjab president Aman Arora accused the Akali Dal of “resorting to the lowest form of politics” and dismissed the photos as part of a smear campaign. “This is a clear attempt to mislead the public and slander an honest minister,” Arora said.
Ravjot Singh further claimed that the episode not only targeted him personally but also insulted the dignity of a woman, exposing “the real mindset of the Akali leadership towards women in society.”
The SAD has not responded to Singh’s rebuttal at the time of filing this report, but the controversy is expected to deepen political tensions as campaigning intensifies in Ludhiana.
