New Delhi, 23rd July: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday addressed probationers from three vital government services – the Indian Defence Estates Service (IDES), Military Engineer Services (MES), and Central Water Engineering Service (CWES) – during their call on at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Her address underscored the critical role these young officers will play in integrating modern technology and sustainable practices into governance and infrastructure development.

To the Indian Defence Estates Service officers, President Murmu stressed the necessity of digital solutions in an era of rapid technological transformation. She urged them to stay updated with advancements and apply them in their daily functioning. “Artificial Intelligence, drone-based land surveys, satellite imagery, and blockchain for property record maintenance are no longer futuristic concepts; they are becoming part of governance,” she stated. The President also advised them to embrace green practices, including adopting renewable energy, reducing waste, and ensuring water conservation in cantonments.

Addressing the Military Engineer Services officers, President Murmu highlighted their crucial responsibility as emerging leaders in military construction to “not only build but to build with responsibility.” She emphasized focusing on renewable energy sources to promote sustainable development and reduce the carbon footprint of defense infrastructure. The President expressed satisfaction that MES is actively promoting the use of indigenous materials and technologies under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, aligning with the national vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.

Speaking to the Central Water Engineering Service officers, the President underscored that sustainable development and efficient management of water resources are key to water security and growth, particularly in the face of changing climatic trends. She noted that by ensuring clean water and promoting water conservation, India can significantly improve public health, boost agricultural productivity, and ensure the sustainable use of natural resources. President Murmu underlined that their contributions to water infrastructure development, through innovative engineering solutions, will make the country more resilient against both natural and man-made water crises.

The President’s interactions provided a clear roadmap and inspiration for these new entrants to public service, guiding them towards a future where technology and sustainability are integral to India’s progress.
