Washington, 13th Aug: Hir Prajapati, whose mother Kalpana Ben Prajapati was a victim of the tragic AI-171 plane crash, has filed a lawsuit against Boeing in a US Federal Court. The move is aimed at seeking swift justice for the tragedy that killed 260 people on June 12.
Speaking to the news agency ANI, Mr. Prajapati stated that his family has hired lawyer Mike Andrews to represent them. He explained that fighting the case in the U.S. is motivated by the desire for a quick verdict, as he believes trials in India can be prolonged for years.
“We expect the raw details of information from the black-box to come before us at the earliest so that we can make further decisions,” said Prajapati, expressing a desire for transparency and answers. He also thanked the Indian government, police, and doctors for their assistance in the aftermath of the crash.
His lawyer, Mike Andrews, who represents over 65 victim families, noted that the families are actively “searching for answers” to understand the circumstances of the tragedy. Andrews’ comments followed a candlelight vigil held by the families to mark the two-month anniversary of the crash.
The Air India flight AI-171, a Boeing 787-8 aircraft, crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 12, killing 260 people. The casualties included 229 passengers, 12 crew members, and 19 people on the ground.
