Ahmedabad/Noida 23rd January : Just days before Republic Day celebrations on January 26, several schools in Ahmedabad and Noida were placed on high alert after receiving bomb threat emails on Friday. The threats prompted swift action from local authorities, with bomb disposal squads, forensic teams, and police units conducting intensive security checks to ensure the safety of students and staff.
In Ahmedabad, multiple schools received threatening emails, following which the city’s crime branch immediately stepped in. The bomb squad and forensic department were rushed to the affected locations to assess the threat. Officials confirmed that investigations are underway to determine the source and credibility of the emails, while security agencies remain on heightened vigilance due to the proximity of national celebrations.
Noida Schools Shut as Precautionary Measure
In Noida, Shiv Nadar School received a bomb threat via email early Friday morning. Acting swiftly, the school administration announced the closure of the campus for the day to allow security agencies to conduct a thorough sweep. Parents were informed through an official communication from the Principal, advising them that school buses were being sent back and requesting them to receive their children at designated drop-off points.
“Safety of our students is our top priority. As a precautionary measure, the school will remain closed today,” the message stated, reassuring parents that updates would be shared through bus staff and official channels.
Apart from Shiv Nadar School, Bal Bharati School and Cambridge School in Noida also faced similar threats. Cambridge School alerted parents and asked them to pick up their children immediately, while Bal Bharati School was placed on high alert. Pre-primary classes were dismissed, although students from Classes 1 to 12 remained on campus initially due to staggered schedules and transport arrangements.
Police, Cyber Teams Probe Threat Emails
Noida Police confirmed that upon receiving information about the threatening emails, senior officers along with personnel from multiple police stations were deployed at the school premises. Bomb squads, fire brigade teams, dog squads, and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) carried out extensive checks across campuses.
Authorities said that no suspicious object has been found so far, but investigations continue. The cyber cell has launched a technical examination of the emails to trace their origin and identify those responsible. Police officials emphasised that while many such threats later turn out to be hoaxes, each alert is treated with utmost seriousness, especially in the run-up to Republic Day.
