New Delhi, 20th Oct: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday released its fourth list of 12 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, taking the total number of declared candidates to 132.
The latest list includes Kumar Kunal from Madhuban, Brij Bhushan (Navin) from Sapaul, and Anil Kumar from Gaya Town. Earlier, on October 18, the party had announced its third list comprising 50 candidates. AAP is contesting the polls independently, without joining any alliance.
Polling for all 243 assembly seats will take place in two phases — on November 6 and 11, with counting scheduled for November 14. Monday also marks the last date for withdrawal of nominations for the first phase and the final date to file nominations for the second phase of the elections.
Meanwhile, the opposition Mahagathbandhan continues to face internal rifts and has yet to finalize its seat-sharing arrangement, leading to uncertainty within the alliance.
In contrast, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has decided to contest solo, citing dissatisfaction with the Mahagathbandhan’s indecisiveness. The Congress, too, has released two lists so far, including its first list of 48 candidates on October 17 and the second list on Saturday, even as talks with allies remain unresolved.
On the other hand, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has completed its seat-sharing arrangements and begun campaigning. The BJP has already announced candidates for all 101 seats allotted under the NDA pact.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch his election campaign in Bihar on October 24, signaling the beginning of high-octane political activity in the state.
