AAP Considers Contesting Few Seats in Upcoming Maharashtra Assembly Elections

Sindhudurg, 19th Oct. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has indicated that it may contest a few seats in next month’s Maharashtra assembly elections, despite being part of the opposition’s INDIA bloc. The Arvind Kejriwal-led party remains aligned with the bloc, which includes Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) under the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) banner, opposing the ruling Mahayuti alliance.

Addressing a press conference in Kudal, Sindhudurg district, AAP’s Goa unit president Amit Palekar announced that the party is focused on strengthening its presence in the Konkan belt, specifically in Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, and Kolhapur districts. Palekar emphasized that AAP has gained considerable traction in these regions, with many locals seeking alternatives to BJP’s Union Minister Narayan Rane and what Palekar termed as his “politics of vendetta.”

“The AAP stands firmly with the INDIA bloc allies for the November 20 Maharashtra elections, but if political developments allow, we may contest a couple of seats where our chances of winning are strong,” Palekar stated. He added that there is significant pressure from party workers in Kolhapur and Sindhudurg to field AAP candidates in the upcoming elections.

Palekar, who is also the AAP’s Sindhudurg district in-charge, remarked that the people of the Konkan region are known for their respectfulness and are unwilling to accept the “language of arrogance” from the Rane family. He underscored the need for “clean and honest politics” and the role of committed politicians in achieving this vision.

With the elections approaching, AAP’s potential entry into the fray could alter the political dynamics in key constituencies across the Konkan and western Maharashtra regions.
