New Delhi, 21th Jan. At Red Fort in Delhi, there will be a multifarious celebration on the occasion of Parakram Diwas 2024 that will skilfully blend historical reflections with colourful cultural expressions. The festivities will begin on January 23 in the evening with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, and they will last until January 31.
The Ministry of Culture is coordinating the extensive event with the assistance of affiliated organizations like the National Archives of India, the National School of Drama, the Archaeological Survey of India, and Sahitya Akademi. The program during the event will include a wide range of activities that explore the profound legacy of Azad Hind Fauj and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
The Azad Hind Fauj and the story of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose were significantly influenced by the Red Fort. The memory of Bose and INA is preserved and honored in a museum housed within the Red Fort. It was also opened by Prime Minister Modi on Netaji’s birthday in 2019.Major players in the Red Fort Trials, Colonels Prem Sahgal, Gurbaksh Singh Dhillon, and Shahnawaz Khan, will always be remembered by name. Their dedication to the cause of India’s independence resulted in the historic Red Fort barracks case, which demonstrated the Azad Hind Fauj’s unflinching resolve.
With performers from the National School of Drama (NSD) performing on stage, the landmark Red Fort will be turned into a canvas throughout the event. Its walls will be illuminated with tales of bravery and sacrifice in an aesthetically spectacular mix of history and art. The Indian National Army veterans will receive special recognition. Through archive exhibitions featuring rare photos and papers that commemorate the extraordinary voyage of Netaji and the Azad Hind Fauj at the Red Fort, guests will be immersed in a fully immersive experience. Additionally, hands-on experiences will be provided via painting and sculpture workshops, and an AR and VR display will highlight modern technologies and provide a distinctive, interactive viewpoint on historical events.
Visitors will not be charged for admission during the event.
Since 2021, the celebration of Parakram Diwas has been an annual occasion to remember Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The inaugural event was held in Kolkata’s Victoria Memorial Hall in 2021. A model of the National Memorial dedicated to Netaji, which was intended to be built on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep, was unveiled in 2023. In 2022, a holographic statue of Netaji was unveiled at India Gate. In 2023, the 21 largest unnamed islands of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands were named after the 21 recipients of the Param Vir Chakra.
The Prime Minister will also digitally introduce “Bharat Parv,” an initiative by the Ministry of Tourism to highlight the variety of the country through Republic Day Tableaux and cultural displays, as part of the Parakram Diwas 2024 program. 26 Ministries and agencies will showcase citizen-centric programs, Vocal for Local, and a variety of tourism attractions during the nine-day event, which runs from January 23 to January 31. An international forum to participate, contemplate, and commemorate the nation’s revitalized spirit, this event will be held in Madhav Das Park and Ram Leela Maidan in front of Red Fort.
