Etah, UP, 20th May. After his video of himself casting eight separate votes for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) went viral, a guy from Etah, Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested.
All polling party members are to be suspended from the station, per an instruction from the chief election officer of the state.
The young person who was detained has been named as Rajan Singh, a native of the Etah district hamlet of Khiriya Pamaran.
Officials say that after the video went viral on social media on Sunday, the incident was reported in the Farrukhabad parliamentary constituency and action was taken.

“The person appearing to be voting multiple times in the video has been identified as Rajan Singh, son of Anil Singh and resident of village Khiriya Pamaran. He has been arrested,” the CEO said.
The official also said instructions to “suspend and institute disciplinary proceedings” against all members of the polling party have been issued. It has been suggested that the ECI in the affected polling station conduct a new poll. All District Election Officers in the remaining phases of Uttar Pradesh have received stern instructions to strictly adhere to the voter identification process,” the post states.
Yadav uploaded the 2.20-minute video on Sunday at around 4 p.m. According to Yadav, if the ECI believes that something is improper, it should act.
Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, later blogged and commented on the same.
The official announced on X a few minutes later that they had taken notice of the video that was going viral. “Concerned District Election Officers have been directed to take prompt and effective action.” The CEO claims that the guy has been charged under Sections 128, 132, and 136 of the RP Act 1951, as well as Sections 171-F (penalty for undue influence or personation at an election) and 419 (punishment for cheating by personation) of the IPC.
The Assistant Returning Officer of the Aliganj assembly constituency under the Farrukhabad Lok Sabha filed the FIR, according to a post made on X by the District Magistrate of Farrukhabad on Sunday night. On May 13, the seat was up for election as part of the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
