Kannur, 1st July. Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, arrived in Kerala on Friday for a three-day visit to his Lok Sabha district of Wayanad. While there, he will attend a number of events, including the opening of a farmer’s bank building and a UDF Bahujana Sangamam.

Gandhi was welcomed by Congress officials at Kannur International Airport as soon as his flight touched down there at around 8.30 am. They were led by State Party Chief K Sudhakaran. He will now drive to his congressional district; Wayanad, from here.

According to party sources, Rahul Gandhi, MP, will arrive in Mananthavady, Wayanad, at 12:15 pm.

For Gandhi’s visit, which coincided with unrest in the state following the alleged attack on the CPI(M) headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram, extensive security measures were put in place.

Congress is allegedly responsible for the “bomb attack” on the center, according to the ruling leftist party.

Additionally, his trip to the district comes just one week after SFI activists vandalised the CPI(M) government’s student wing’s office in Kalpetta, Wayanad.
The Wayanad MP’s office, according to the Congress, was vandalised with the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s knowledge.

The Congress-led UDF brought up the subject in the State Assembly on Monday, disrupting the proceedings and forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House for the day.

In response to the charge from the Congress, CM Vijayan stated that everyone in the CPI(M), from the district level to the state secretariat, had denounced the attack. The LDF government had also taken immediate action, as evidenced by the arrest of SFI employees, including women, and the suspension of the senior officer-in-charge of the region.
