New Delhi, 17 April. As the number of Covid cases in the Delhi-NCR region has steadily increased, schools have sprung into action.
Schools in the Delhi-NCR region have begun to take various measures, including frequent sanitization, to limit the spread of Covid and avoid campus closures.
This action follows a slow but steady increase in Covid cases throughout the Delhi-NCR region.
Among other things, schools have decided to close a specific class when a student tests positive and have advised parents not to send their children to school without masks.
However, they all agreed that further school closures were not a viable option. Coronavirus, according to Shubhi Soni, Head, The Shri Ram Wonder Years, Rohini, will never go away, but the hysteria surrounding it will.
“In the coming years, it will be reduced to an endemic, influenza, and seasonal flu. The current increase in Covid cases is the result of the government’s decision to make mask-wearing optional in public places.
“We must not wait for the situation to worsen, and strict protocols must be implemented immediately to control the situation,” Soni said.
She claims that if their child’s health is jeopardised, the parent community will panic.
“In such a case, the next step should be to allow for a blended approach to learning, which would entail beginning three days of offline schooling and two days of online schooling in a staggered fashion.
“School closures in any form are not the solution because students have regressed in their learning and it has taken a significant toll on their social and emotional well-being,” she said.
The city’s school students are increasingly testing positive, which is causing concern among parents. The Delhi government has directed school administrators to close specific wings or classrooms as needed.
Anshu Mital, Principal of MRG School in Rohini, stated that they are taking all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, such as constant cleaning and disinfecting of classrooms, physical distancing, staggered dispersals, and the use of open spaces for activities.
“Our top priority is to maintain a strict vigil to ensure the health of students and staff administration.” The wellness staff, led by a counselor, is always available to address parents’ concerns and to look after the learners’ mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
“As responsible citizens, we must verify the veracity of news and believe only in facts.” We must not fall victim to fake information, which instils fear among stakeholders and society as a whole. “As an educator, I hope there are no school closings and that we can continue to provide continuous and qualitative learning to our students,” she said.
Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, said on Saturday that while coronavirus cases have been increasing in the capital, there is no need to be concerned because hospitalisation rates are low.
Infection reports from schools have raised concerns just weeks after they reopened for completely offline classes after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
The new infections in private schools in the capital come on the heels of new cases of the disease being reported in schools in neighbouring Noida and Ghaziabad.
Coronavirus cases and positivity rates in Delhi have been increasing in recent days. On Saturday, Delhi saw a nearly 26% increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the previous 24 hours, with a positivity rate of 5. 33 per cent.
