Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Textiles Approved by Government

New Delhi, 8th Sep. Union Cabinet has approved PLI Scheme for Textiles for MMF Apparel, MMF Fabrics & 10 segments/products of Technical Textiles with a budgetary outlay of Rs 10,683 crores.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur informed that Incentives worth Rs 10,683 crores will be provided over 5 years.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that, “we hope that this decision will produce some global champions. The factories based around aspirational districts or Tier-3 & Tier-4 cities will be given priority. It will especially benefit Gujarat, UP, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana etc.”

Piyush Goyal said that, we have primarily focused on cotton textile so far. But 2/3 share of the international textile market is man-made & technical textile. He said that India can also contribute to the production of man-made fibers after the approval of this PLI scheme.
