Vir Vikram Named DGCA Chief in Major Bureaucratic Reshuffle

Centre appoints 25 senior officers across key ministries in administrative overhaul

New Delhi, 31st March: The Centre on Tuesday carried out a major bureaucratic reshuffle, appointing senior IAS officer Vir Vikram Yadav as the new Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Yadav, a 1996-batch IAS officer of the Odisha cadre, succeeds Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, who has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). Yadav was serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change prior to this appointment.

The reshuffle saw as many as 25 senior civil servants being appointed at the level of Additional Secretary across various central government departments.

Among other key appointments, Puneet Kansal has been named Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, while Vishal Gagan will serve as Secretary in the Central Information Commission (CIC).

Gyanendra D Tripathi has been appointed Additional Secretary in the Department of Agricultural Research and Education and will also take charge as Secretary of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).

Sridhar Chiruvolu, currently Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, has been elevated as Additional Secretary in the PMO.

Ansuman Pattanaik will move to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs as Additional Secretary, while N Gulzar has been appointed Member Secretary of the National Capital Region Planning Board.

Several other appointments include Diwakar Nath Misra in the Ministry of Power, Debasish Prusty in the Department of Financial Services, and Arti Kanwar in the Ministry of Textiles.

In the agriculture and commerce sectors, Darpan Jain and Ankita Mishra Bundela have been appointed as Additional Secretaries in the Departments of Commerce and Agriculture and Farmers Welfare respectively.

Lokhande Prashant Sitaram and Anuj Sharma will serve as Additional Secretaries in the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Further, Vijay Nehra has been appointed in the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Siddharth Jain in the Ministry of Cooperation, and Neetu Kumari Prasad in the Department of Revenue.

The reshuffle also includes appointments of Meenaxi Rawat, Yashvir Singh, Hari Har Mishra, Veena Kumari Dermal, and Aparna Bhatia across key ministries.

The wide-ranging changes are seen as part of the Centre’s effort to strengthen administrative efficiency and leadership across departments.
