New Delhi, 30th March: President Droupadi Murmu on Monday extended her greetings to citizens on the eve of Mahavir Jayanti, urging people to adopt the timeless teachings of Mahavira in their daily lives.

In her message, the President conveyed best wishes to all citizens, particularly members of the Jain community, on the auspicious occasion.

Highlighting the five core principles of Bhagwan Mahavir — Ahimsa (non-violence), Satya (truth), Asteya (non-stealing), Brahmacharya (self-control) and Aparigraha (non-possessiveness) — she said these values guide individuals towards a righteous and meaningful life.

The President noted that Mahavir raised his voice against social evils and showed the path towards a just and compassionate society, adding that his teachings remain relevant across generations.

Calling for collective commitment, she urged citizens to embrace these ideals and contribute towards building a harmonious and progressive nation.
