Miami, 28th March: US President Donald Trump has said he hopes to be remembered as a “great peacemaker,” claiming he played a role in halting eight global conflicts, including tensions between India and Pakistan last year.

Speaking at the Saudi-backed Future Investment Initiative Priority Summit in Miami, Trump asserted that his intervention helped de-escalate multiple disputes worldwide.

“I would love my legacy to be made as a great peacemaker… I even stopped India and Pakistan,” Trump said, adding that he used the threat of steep tariffs to push both sides towards de-escalation.

He also listed other conflicts he claimed to have influenced, including those involving Armenia-Azerbaijan, Israel-Hamas, and Serbia-Kosovo.

On Iran, Trump said any potential agreement would depend on reopening the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz, emphasising the need to restore maritime access for oil shipments.

“We’re negotiating now… but they have to open it up,” he said, while briefly referring to the waterway as the “Strait of Trump” in a lighter moment.

The US President described Iran as a declining force in the Middle East following a US military campaign he referred to as “Operation Epic Fury,” claiming its leadership, armed forces and nuclear programme had been weakened.

Trump also criticised the NATO, calling it a “paper tiger” and alleging a lack of support during US military actions.

In remarks that drew attention, he hinted at potential future action against Cuba, before asking media to disregard the statement.

Trump reiterated that US actions had prevented Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, claiming the country could have developed them within weeks otherwise.

The remarks come amid evolving geopolitical tensions in West Asia and ongoing debates over global security alliances and diplomatic strategies.
