New Delhi, 13th March: Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya M. Scindia will inaugurate the Samriddh Gram Phygital Services Pilot Initiative at Umri village in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh on March 14.
The project, launched by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), aims to demonstrate how high-speed connectivity under BharatNet can be used to deliver integrated citizen services at the village level.
Under the initiative, Scindia will inaugurate the Samriddhi Kendra, an integrated Phygital (Physical + Digital) Service Centre, which will function as a one-stop facility for multiple services. The centre will operate from the Panchayat Bhawan in Umri village and will serve residents from surrounding villages within a five-kilometre radius.
During the visit, the minister will also review service demonstrations, interact with beneficiaries and inaugurate a health check-up and cataract awareness programme. He is also scheduled to address a public gathering.
The Samriddhi Kendra will provide services across several sectors including education and skill development, agriculture support, telemedicine and healthcare, e-governance services, financial inclusion, e-commerce access, connectivity services and digital surveillance systems.
Officials said the initiative highlights the potential of BharatNet—one of the world’s largest rural broadband programmes—to enable integrated digital service delivery in rural India.
The Umri pilot is part of a broader programme that includes two additional villages: Narakoduru in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh and Chaurawala in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, representing diverse demographic and geographic conditions.
The project is being implemented by the Department of Telecommunications in collaboration with the Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF), which is supporting field operations and community mobilisation.
According to the ministry, the pilot will provide valuable insights into how connectivity, digital platforms and community engagement can be integrated to strengthen rural service delivery ecosystems.
If successful, the Samriddh Gram initiative is expected to serve as a replicable model for rural digital transformation across the country.
