New Delhi, 12th March: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav met Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in New Delhi on Thursday to discuss key issues related to agriculture and rural development in the state.

The meeting resulted in several decisions aimed at providing major relief to farmers in Madhya Pradesh, particularly those cultivating mustard and tur (pigeon pea). Madhya Pradesh Rural Development Minister Prahlad Patel and senior officials were also present during the discussions.

A major decision taken during the meeting was the approval of the price difference payment scheme for mustard procurement. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan cleared the state government’s proposal and directed concerned departments to expedite payments to farmers.

The decision is expected to benefit mustard growers in the state by ensuring that they receive compensation for any difference between the minimum support price and market price.

In another key announcement, Chouhan handed over an approval letter to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for 100 percent procurement of tur produced in the state. The move is expected to protect farmers from market price fluctuations and ensure stable incomes for tur growers.

Officials said the decision would strengthen the procurement mechanism and assure farmers that the government will purchase their produce fully.

During the meeting, several other agriculture and rural development issues were reviewed. These included price difference payments for mustard and soybean, additional targets for moong and urad under the Pulses Mission, and the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.

The discussions also covered matters related to soil health programmes, MGNREGA wage and material payments, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Grameen, and the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan directed officials to prioritise and resolve pending issues related to Madhya Pradesh, so that farmers, labourers and rural households receive timely benefits from government schemes.

Chouhan said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the year 2026 is being observed as the “Farmers’ Welfare Year” in Madhya Pradesh, and the Centre is giving special attention to agriculture-focused states.

He added that farmers growing mustard, tur, moong, urad and oilseeds will receive all possible support so that the state continues to remain a leading performer in agriculture and rural development.
