Rajouri, 10th March: Security forces on Tuesday foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, killing one terrorist during an encounter in the Nowshera sector, officials said.
According to the Army’s White Knight Corps, troops detected the movement of two terrorists in the general area of Jhangar around 3 pm following specific intelligence inputs.
Alert security personnel responded with swift and calibrated action and engaged the infiltrators in an exchange of fire, successfully preventing them from breaching the LoC.
“In the ensuing firefight, one Pakistan-sponsored terrorist was eliminated, effectively foiling the infiltration attempt,” the White Knight Corps said in a post on X.
A search operation has been launched in the surrounding area to locate the second terrorist, who is believed to be hiding nearby.
Security forces have intensified surveillance and strengthened their operational posture across the sector to prevent any further infiltration attempts.
Officials said integrated ground and aerial monitoring is being carried out to maintain complete domination of the area and track any suspicious movement along the border.
The operation was still underway at the time of the latest reports.
