New Delhi, 7th March: President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday extended greetings to citizens on the eve of International Women’s Day, emphasising the vital role of women in building a prosperous and progressive nation.
In her message, the President said women form the foundation of society and have demonstrated their capabilities across diverse fields.
“Women are the foundation of our society and nation. They have demonstrated their talent and hard work in various fields including education, science, sports, art and defence,” she said.
Murmu highlighted that educated, self-reliant and empowered women can make a strong contribution to national development.
She noted that young women today are shaping the aspirations of a new India and called for greater opportunities, guidance and encouragement to support their ambitions.
The President also urged citizens to work collectively towards creating a society where women enjoy equal opportunities and can achieve success based on their abilities.
“Let us all come together to work towards a society where women have equal opportunities and can move forward and achieve success on the basis of their capabilities,” she said.
International Women’s Day is observed globally on March 8 every year to celebrate the achievements of women and to reaffirm commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment.
The President concluded by wishing citizens a successful celebration of Women’s Day and a bright future for women across the country.
