New Delhi, 6th March: Droupadi Murmu on Thursday met Alexander Stubb at Rashtrapati Bhavan during the Finnish leader’s state visit to India.

Welcoming President Stubb, Murmu said his presence as the Chief Guest at the Raisina Dialogue was a matter of pride for India and expressed confidence that his views on contemporary global challenges would enrich the discussions at the forum.

The President noted that India regards Finland as a valued and trusted partner, with bilateral ties rooted in mutual trust and shared democratic values.

Both leaders observed that India–Finland relations have evolved into a dynamic partnership in recent years, driven by innovation, clean technologies, education and economic cooperation.

Murmu also expressed confidence that the recently announced India–European Union Free Trade Agreement would provide fresh momentum to bilateral trade and investment ties.

Highlighting Finland’s leadership in advanced digital technologies, she said the country has emerged as a global leader in fields ranging from quantum technology to 6G telecommunications.

She appreciated the contribution of Finnish companies to India’s development journey and noted that several Indian firms are also active in Finland. Thousands of Indians, particularly IT professionals, are contributing to Finland’s economy, opening new avenues for deeper cooperation between the two nations.

Murmu also commended Finland’s leadership in sustainable development and clean technologies. She highlighted India’s progress in climate action through expansion of solar and wind energy, promotion of green hydrogen and initiatives such as the International Solar Alliance and the Global Bio-Fuels Alliance.

The President also briefed her Finnish counterpart on India’s LiFE Mission, which promotes sustainable lifestyles, and said combining Finland’s technological expertise with India’s green energy innovations can demonstrate that prosperity and sustainability can go hand in hand.
