Tehran, 3rd March: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Tuesday shared an image on social media showing graves being prepared for victims of an airstrike in Minab, southern Iran, alleging that more than 160 young girls were killed in what he described as a US-Israeli bombing of a primary school.

In a post on X, Araghchi wrote that the graves were being dug for “more than 160 innocent young girls” whose bodies were “torn to shreds” in the strike. He accused the United States of “murdering innocents in cold blood” and directly blamed US President Donald Trump for the incident.

“This is how ‘rescue’ promised by Mr. Trump looks in reality,” he wrote, adding, “From Gaza to Minab, innocents murdered in cold blood.”

Iranian officials said at least 153 people, including children, were killed after the strike hit a girls’ elementary school in Minab, a city near a base of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that had reportedly been targeted earlier. President Masoud Pezeshkian described the attack as a “barbaric act.”

The United States has denied deliberately targeting a school. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington would not intentionally strike civilian infrastructure and that the matter would be investigated if US forces were involved.

“The United States would not deliberately target a school,” Rubio told reporters, adding that relevant authorities would review the reports.

The US Central Command stated that it was assessing the situation following the allegations.

The reported strike has drawn international condemnation, including from UNESCO and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai. Under international humanitarian law, deliberate targeting of schools, hospitals or other civilian sites constitutes a war crime.

The incident comes amid escalating hostilities following coordinated US-Israel strikes on Iranian targets, raising fears of further civilian casualties and broader regional instability.
