To Lay Foundation Stone for V.O. Chidambaram Pillai Statue in Madurai

New Delhi, 21st Feb: The Vice-President of India, C. P. Radhakrishnan, will undertake a one-day visit to Tamil Nadu on February 22, 2026.

During the visit, he will participate as the Chief Guest at the foundation stone laying ceremony for the statue of V. O. Chidambaram Pillai at Vandiyur in Madurai. The statue is being erected to honour the contributions of the noted freedom fighter, widely remembered for his role in India’s struggle against colonial rule.

The Vice-President is also scheduled to visit the historic Thirukoshtiyur Sowmya Narayana Perumal Temple, an important Vaishnavite shrine known for its architectural and spiritual heritage.

In addition, he will visit the Rani Velu Nachiyar Palace in Sivaganga, associated with the legacy of Rani Velu Nachiyar, one of the earliest queens to wage armed resistance against British rule.
