New Delhi, 21st Feb: Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a bilateral meeting with Brazil’s Agriculture and Livestock Minister Carlos Fávaro and Minister of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture Luiz Paulo Teixeira at Krishi Bhawan to advance cooperation in agriculture and allied sectors.

The discussions focused on reviewing ongoing collaborations and identifying new areas of partnership between the two countries. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding engagement in agriculture, agribusiness innovation and rural development.

Chouhan highlighted the strong and time-tested ties between India and Brazil, rooted in shared democratic values and strengthened through regular high-level interactions, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Brazil during the BRICS Summit 2025. He also appreciated Brazil’s participation in the AI Impact Summit, calling it a step forward in deepening technological collaboration between the two nations.

Brazilian Minister Luiz Paulo Teixeira underlined the vast scope for enhanced cooperation in agriculture and allied sectors, noting that collaboration could deliver mutual benefits for farmers and rural communities in both countries.

Minister Carlos Fávaro commended India’s progress in bio-inputs and sustainable agricultural innovations, describing the sector as a key area for future joint initiatives.

Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation in priority sectors and explore new partnership avenues to strengthen food security, sustainability and technological exchange.

Chouhan also extended an invitation to the Brazilian delegation to participate in the forthcoming BRICS Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting.

The Brazilian delegation included senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and international relations divisions, while the Indian side comprised representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ministry of External Affairs, ICAR and NABARD.
