New Delhi, 19th Feb: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday chaired a high-level review meeting at Krishi Bhawan to assess the status of Rabi crop sowing, price trends of key commodities, and implementation of major agriculture schemes.

During the meeting, the minister reviewed the sowing progress of various Rabi crops and examined the movement of prices of vegetables, pulses, oilseeds, and food grains. He expressed satisfaction with the overall progress of Rabi sowing and said the price situation remains under close watch.

Chouhan also assessed the release and utilisation of funds to states under Krishonnati Yojana and Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana. He directed officials to hold review meetings with state governments, especially where fund utilisation is below expectations, to ensure timely execution of schemes.

Emphasising outcome-based governance, the minister called for direct feedback from farmers to evaluate the real impact of departmental schemes on the ground. He said inputs from end users are essential to strengthen implementation and improve effectiveness.

Chouhan further instructed officials to expedite implementation of agriculture-related announcements made in the Union Budget 2026–27, in coordination with state governments.

Agriculture Secretary Dr Devesh Chaturvedi and senior officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare were present at the meeting.
