Dhaka, 17th Feb: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla attended the swearing-in ceremony of Bangladesh’s new government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in Dhaka on Tuesday, representing India at the event.

On the occasion, Birla extended warm congratulations to Rahman on behalf of the people of India. He later met the newly sworn-in Prime Minister and handed over a personal letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, inviting him to visit India at the earliest convenience.

During the interaction, the Lok Sabha Speaker reiterated that India stands ready to support Bangladesh’s efforts to build a democratic, progressive, and inclusive nation. He also reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening the enduring partnership between the two neighbouring countries.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, Birla also met Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu and Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay.
