Srinagar, 16th Feb: A Regional Event-cum-Workshop under the Tele-Law initiative will be held on February 17, 2026, at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.

The event is being organised under the DISHA (Designing Innovative Solutions for Holistic Access to Justice) Central Sector Scheme, implemented by the Department of Justice under the Ministry of Law and Justice. The workshop will begin at 12 noon and aims to strengthen access to justice through technology-enabled legal services.

The programme will open with the mass singing of the national song “Vande Mataram” to mark 150 years of its historic significance.

The event will highlight key outreach and implementation channels of the DISHA scheme, which seeks to improve legal literacy and ensure easier access to justice across the country. A dedicated segment will focus on community outreach, digital campaigns, and partnerships with educational institutions and civil society organisations, with special emphasis on marginalised and vulnerable groups.

Another segment will present an overview of DISHA initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir, showcasing efforts to enhance legal awareness and improve justice delivery in the Union Territory.

The workshop will also include the felicitation of individuals and institutions associated with the DISHA scheme for their contributions to legal literacy and access to justice. An annual e-calendar outlining the Department of Justice’s campaigns and activities for the year will also be released.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh Arun Palli are expected to attend the event.

Around 800 participants, including judges, judicial officers, advocates, government counsels, officials, law students, and village-level entrepreneurs from Common Service Centres, will attend the workshop. Several stakeholders will also join the event virtually.

The regional workshop forms part of a nationwide effort to strengthen last-mile justice delivery through awareness, capacity building, and technology-enabled services.
