New Delhi, 13th Feb: President Droupadi Murmu on Friday inaugurated an All-India Conference of the Brahma Kumaris and launched the nationwide campaign ‘Karmayoga for Empowered Bharat’ in the national capital.

She also launched the silver jubilee celebrations of the Om Shanti Retreat Centre in Gurugram.

Addressing the gathering, the President said that integrating moral values and spirituality with material progress is essential for balanced and holistic development. She noted that while economic and technological growth promote prosperity and innovation, development without ethics can create social imbalances.

She warned that unethical economic progress could lead to concentration of wealth, environmental damage, and exploitation of vulnerable sections, while technology without moral values could prove destructive.

Murmu said spirituality provides a moral framework that inspires selfless service, or Karmayoga, and promotes virtues such as integrity, compassion, non-violence, and service to others.

She added that when governance is guided by spiritual values, decisions are taken for the welfare of all citizens, which strengthens trust and stability in society.

Referring to the teachings of the Brahma Kumaris, the President said Rajayoga is not limited to meditation but also includes Karmayoga—living by high spiritual principles while fulfilling responsibilities.

She expressed satisfaction that millions associated with the organisation were leading meaningful lives through the practice of Karmayoga and said that every citizen could contribute to India’s sustainable and holistic development through such values.
