New Delhi, 31st Jan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Punjab on February 1, 2026, to mark the 649th birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji, a revered saint and social reformer whose teachings continue to shape India’s social conscience.

At around 3:45 pm, the Prime Minister will visit Adampur Airport, where he will formally rename it as Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Airport, Adampur, honouring the saint’s enduring message of equality, compassion and human dignity. The renaming is seen as a tribute to Guru Ravidas Ji’s contribution to social harmony and inclusive values.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the new Terminal Building at Halwara Airport in Ludhiana district. The facility is expected to serve as a key aviation gateway for Ludhiana and its surrounding industrial and agricultural regions. Halwara also houses a strategically important Indian Air Force station, underlining the airport’s dual civilian and strategic relevance.

The new civil enclave at Halwara has been developed to overcome limitations of the earlier Ludhiana airport, which had a short runway suitable only for small aircraft. With a longer runway, the new airport will be capable of handling A320-type aircraft, significantly improving air connectivity in the region.

Aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of sustainable development, the terminal incorporates several environment-friendly features, including LED lighting, insulated roofing, rainwater harvesting, sewage and water treatment plants, and the use of recycled water for landscaping. Its architectural design reflects Punjab’s cultural heritage, offering passengers a regionally inspired travel experience.
