New Delhi, 30th Jan: A case has been registered against the Karnataka BJP’s official X (formerly Twitter) account for allegedly posting derogatory content against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, and other ministers of the state government.

The complaint was filed by the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) at the Cyber Crime police station after the BJP’s X handle shared a photograph of senior Congress leaders with the caption “scam lord” and accused the Congress-led government of running a “scam empire looting Karnataka day and night.”

In its post, the BJP claimed, “This is the real story of the scam empire of the @INCKarnataka government that has been looting Karnataka day and night!!”

In its complaint, the KPCC alleged that the post amounted to character assassination and was intended to create confusion and unrest in society. Police officials said they have received the complaint and issued an acknowledgement.

The BJP has been mounting sustained attacks on the Siddaramaiah government over alleged corruption. Last month, the party cited remarks by Justice Veerappa on alleged 63 per cent corruption in Karnataka, claiming the state had become an “ATM” for the Congress to fund elections elsewhere.

Senior BJP leader R Ashoka had also questioned what probe the government would order in view of the 63 per cent corruption allegation, recalling that the Congress, after coming to power, had formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the earlier “40 per cent commission” charge against the previous BJP government.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has rejected the allegations, accusing the opposition of twisting facts and attempting to divert attention from its own past tenure.
