New Delhi, 29th Jan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the media at Parliament House ahead of the commencement of the Budget Session 2026, stating that the President’s address reflects the confidence, hard work and aspirations of 140 crore Indians, particularly the youth.
The Prime Minister said the address set clear guiding points for Members of Parliament at the very start of the year and the session, making it especially important. He noted that this Budget Session marks the beginning of the second quarter of the 21st century, with the next 25 years being crucial for achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047.
Shri Modi highlighted that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present her ninth consecutive Budget, calling it a proud moment in India’s parliamentary history.
Referring to the recently concluded India-European Union Free Trade Agreement, the Prime Minister described it as the “Mother of All Deals,” saying it opens vast opportunities for India’s youth, farmers, manufacturers, fishermen and the services sector. He urged Indian industry to focus on quality and competitiveness to make the most of access to the large EU market, stressing that Indian brands aligned with the national brand will gain long-term global prestige.
Emphasising the government’s identity of Reform, Perform and Transform, Shri Modi said the nation is now moving rapidly on the Reform Express. He underlined that the government is shifting from long-pending problems to long-term solutions, creating predictability and strengthening global trust.
The Prime Minister said every reform is human-centric, with strong focus on last-mile delivery to ensure schemes reach people on the ground. He added that India’s democracy and demography together make the country a beacon of hope for the world.
Calling for constructive parliamentary functioning, PM Modi said the present time is for solutions, empowering decisions and accelerating reforms, not for disruption. He urged all Members of Parliament to contribute positively to advance the era of solutions and strengthen India’s development journey.
