New Delhi, 28th Jan: The Delhi Assembly Secretariat has issued a formal communication to Leader of Opposition Atishi, seeking a written response to her media statements regarding the suspension of opposition members from the House.
According to the Secretariat, the matter relates to allegedly incorrect and malicious statements made by Atishi in the media concerning the suspension of opposition MLAs. The issue was referred to the Privileges Committee by Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on January 6, 2026.
The Secretariat has informed that a pen drive containing relevant media material has also been forwarded to the Privileges Committee for reference as part of the inquiry process.
Atishi has been requested to submit her written comments to the Delhi Assembly Secretariat by February 6, 2026, to enable examination of the matter in accordance with established procedures.
The issue is currently under consideration, and further action will be taken as per rules and due legal process, the Secretariat said.
