In a post on X, the Prime Minister described Ajit Pawar as a “leader of the people” who enjoyed a strong grassroots-level connection and was widely respected for his dedication to public service in Maharashtra.

“He was widely respected as a hardworking personality at the forefront of serving the people of Maharashtra. His understanding of administrative matters and passion for empowering the poor and downtrodden were also noteworthy. His untimely demise is very shocking and saddening. Condolences to his family and countless admirers. Om Shanti,” PM Modi wrote.

Ajit Pawar, 66, was travelling in a privately operated Learjet 45 aircraft from Mumbai to Baramati when the plane crashed during landing. Four other persons, including crew members and security personnel, were also reported to have lost their lives in the accident.
