New Delhi | January 25: Himachal Pradesh on Sunday marked its Statehood Day, with President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and several Union ministers extending warm greetings to the people of the hill state and expressing confidence in its continued growth and prosperity.
Statehood Day Marks Historic Milestone
Himachal Pradesh observes its Statehood Day every year on January 25, commemorating its attainment of full statehood in 1971 as the 18th state of the Indian Union. The region was initially formed as a Union Territory in 1956 and later expanded territorially in 1966, before achieving statehood.
President Murmu Highlights Spiritual and Brave Legacy
President Droupadi Murmu, in a message shared on social media platform X, congratulated the residents of Himachal Pradesh on the occasion. Referring to the state as Devbhoomi and the Land of the Brave, she said Himachal’s spiritual traditions, history of valour, and abundant natural beauty give it a unique identity.

The President expressed confidence that the hardworking people of Himachal Pradesh would continue to play an important role in nation-building and in safeguarding the country. She extended her best wishes for a golden future for the people of the state.
