Nagaur, 23rd Jan: The 162nd Maryada Mahotsav was marked by a grand and well-attended programme in Chhoti Khatu town of Nagaur district on Thursday, held in the holy presence of Acharya Mahashraman and guided by RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, who addressed devotees on the values of dharma, discipline and national duty.

Addressing the gathering, Acharya Mahashraman said that good speech is like a precious gem, and that scriptures, classical texts and the words of saints enhance human understanding and inner strength. He said India’s rich tradition of granths, shastras and saintly guidance provides direction to life and strengthens moral capacity.

He stressed that discipline and maryada (code of conduct) are essential in both monarchy and democracy, adding that peace is the ultimate goal. He said while non-violence is a core principle, firmness is sometimes required to protect peace and ensure national security. He underlined that India’s basic policy is non-aggression, but defending the nation and its citizens may require the use of force in unavoidable situations.

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat said India has always been ready to teach the world the values of maryada and dharma. He noted that from ancient times, society has turned to saints for guidance on discipline and knowledge. He said dharma teaches what is right and what is wrong, and helps maintain balance in personal conduct, social life and even in areas such as agriculture and environmental harmony.

Bhagwat said India’s tradition is not to pursue wealth for its own sake, but to earn with a spirit of service and charity. He added that Indians believe in sharing and even making sacrifices for the welfare of others, both within the country and globally. He said India has consistently extended help to other nations during crises, reflecting its dharmic approach to global responsibility.

Referring to the current global scenario, he said while many nations prioritise narrow self-interest, India has followed a path of collective welfare and concern for all. He emphasised that service, discipline and maryada form the core of India’s national character.

On the occasion, Organising Committee President Mansukhbhai Sethia welcomed guests and devotees. A large number of followers, women participants and representatives of various social organisations attended the programme. Special emphasis was laid on cleanliness, avoiding food wastage and using eco-friendly practices, including not using plastic cups, as a message of environmental responsibility.

The event witnessed active participation from local residents, who joined hands to ensure smooth conduct of the programme and uphold the values of discipline and collective service.
