NIT Delhi to Host Gyan Sabha 2026 on Indian Knowledge Systems

New Delhi, 23rd Jan: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Delhi on Friday briefed the media on Gyan Sabha 2026, a two-day national academic conclave scheduled to be held on January 24 and 25, 2026.

The press conference was held at the Committee Room, Admin Block, NIT Delhi, and was attended by the Director, Registrar, Deans and faculty members. The briefing was addressed by Ajay K. Sharma, Director, National Institute of Technology Delhi.

Prof. Sharma said Gyan Sabha 2026 is being organised as a national platform for dialogue on education rooted in Indian traditions, with a special focus on the Indian Knowledge System (IKS). The conclave aims to explore how traditional knowledge frameworks can contribute to contemporary higher education and holistic development.

The event is being organised in association with Siksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas. Dr. Atul Kothari, National Secretary of the organisation, will address the conclave.

It was informed that the two-day programme will include five thematic sessions featuring discussions on Indian knowledge traditions, education, culture and holistic development. A booklet on Gyan Sabha will also be released, outlining the vision and key themes of the conclave.

Highlighting institutional initiatives, Prof. Sharma stressed the relevance of the Gurukul system and said efforts are being made to encourage the use of Hindi in higher education institutions at NIT Delhi, while continuing academic discussions in English. He added that NIT Delhi plans to adopt Gurukul-inspired principles in the future, with holistic development at the core of its academic approach.

He also said preparations for Gyan Sabha 2026 are in full swing, with active institutional involvement to ensure the successful conduct of the event.

Eminent guests expected to participate in the conclave include Krishna Gopal, Deputy Secretary, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh; Atul Kothari, National Secretary, Siksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas; Vineet Joshi, Secretary, Department of Higher Education; and Pankaj Mittal, Director, Association of Indian Universities.
