New Delhi, 22nd Jan: Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya M. Scindia on Thursday chaired a high-level Quarterly Business Review (Q3) meeting of the Department of Posts to accelerate India Post’s growth and transformation into a modern, logistics-driven organisation.

Addressing senior officers and Heads of Circles from across the country, the Minister said India Post has set an ambitious revenue target of ₹17,546 crore for FY 2025–26 and is on a strong trajectory after achieving ₹10,155 crore in the first three quarters of the financial year. He said the progress reflects India Post’s strategic shift towards becoming a parcel- and logistics-led organisation aligned with the rapid growth of e-commerce and integrated supply chains.

Reviewing Q3 performance, Scindia noted that while overall trends remain positive, core verticals such as Parcels, Mail and International Mail have underperformed. Stressing that the future of India Post depends on a strong logistics backbone, he said parcels and mail must begin “firing on all cylinders.” He directed major circles — Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Delhi — which together account for nearly 60 per cent of potential business, to urgently replicate best practices.

Circle-wise performance showed Rajasthan as the best overall performer with 82 per cent of Q3 targets achieved. In the Post Office Savings Bank segment, Karnataka achieved 112 per cent of its target. Citizen Centric Services (CCS) recorded exceptional performance in Delhi (240 per cent), followed by Maharashtra (166 per cent) and Rajasthan (165 per cent). Uttar Pradesh topped Postal Life Insurance with 129 per cent, while Rajasthan led mail operations with 153 per cent.

Among the six business verticals, the Minister commended Citizen Centric Services, which recorded a sharp 95 per cent growth over Q3 of the previous year. Parcels grew by 12 per cent, Postal Life Insurance by 11 per cent, and Post Office Savings Bank by 7 per cent. Scindia directed vertical heads to visit circles and assess on-ground performance to identify bottlenecks and scale successful models.

Highlighting strategic initiatives, the Minister said India Post is strengthening its parcel business through tie-ups with major e-commerce and logistics platforms such as Amazon and Shiprocket. He also cited expansion of Government-to-Government services, including MoUs with the Ministry of Agriculture for pesticide verification and the Ministry of Rural Development to support Self Help Groups. Partnerships with AMFI, BSE and NSE were also strengthened to promote financial inclusion.

Scindia directed immediate peer learning and benchmarking, asking underperforming circles to adopt best practices from leading performers such as Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan and Telangana. He stressed clear accountability, measurable outcomes and zero tolerance for non-performance.

The Minister noted that India Post has registered an 8.2 per cent year-on-year growth up to Q3, compared to ₹9,385 crore during the same period last year. He reiterated the goal of making India Post a profit centre within the next 4–5 years through faster revenue growth and operational efficiency.

Looking ahead, Scindia said Q4 would be crucial, noting that the fourth quarter alone contributed nearly ₹4,500 crore last year. He expressed confidence that a similar performance would help India Post approach its annual target, provided parcels and mail emerge as strong growth drivers.

Concluding the review, the Minister commended India Post employees for their efforts and reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to citizen-centric service under the ethos of “Dak Sewa, Jan Sewa.” He said disciplined execution and leadership will be key to transforming India Post into a modern, competitive logistics and service organisation aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat.
