Bhopal, 19th Jan: Nearly two weeks after being removed as Indore’s Municipal Commissioner in the wake of deaths allegedly linked to contaminated drinking water, 2014-batch IAS officer Dilip Kumar Yadav has been appointed Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation.
Yadav’s new assignment came as part of a sweeping administrative reshuffle announced by the Madhya Pradesh government on Sunday evening, in which 26 IAS officers from batches between 1994 and 2018 were transferred to new postings.
Yadav had been shifted out of Indore on January 3, a day after he was served a show-cause notice over the deaths of residents in the Bhagirathpura area, reportedly caused by polluted water supply. At that time, he was moved to Bhopal as Deputy Secretary in the Panchayat and Rural Development Department.
In the same incident, the state government took stern action against senior officials of the Indore Municipal Corporation, suspending Additional Municipal Commissioner Rohit Sisoniya and Municipal Corporation Executive Engineer Sanjeev Srivastava.
Sunday’s reshuffle also saw senior bureaucrats receive new responsibilities. Among them were 1994-batch IAS officer and Additional Chief Secretary Sheo Shekhar Shukla, along with Principal Secretary–rank officers Umakant Umrao (1996 batch) and Shobhit Jain (2000 batch), though their specific new portfolios were not immediately detailed.
Separately, 2010-batch IAS officer Tarun Rathi was removed as Commissioner of Health Services, Bhopal, and appointed Commissioner of Tribal Development, Bhopal — a move that signals a significant shift in administrative priorities.
The government did not officially link Yadav’s new posting to the Indore water case, but the timing of his appointment has drawn attention given the ongoing public concern over the incident.
