New Delhi, 16th Jan: A national thought conclave on the theme “Capable Youth through Skill Development, Capable India through Capable Youth” was organised by Samarth Bharat, a project of the Bhaurao Deoras Seva Nyas, at the NDMC Convention Centre in New Delhi.
The programme was addressed by Dr. Krishna Gopal, Sah Sarkaryavah of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), as the chief speaker, while Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta attended as the chief guest. The event was chaired by Motilal Oswal, co-founder and chairman of Motilal Oswal Financial Services.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Krishna Gopal said that India’s socio-economic structure is distinct from that of Western nations and therefore its development model must be rooted in Indian realities rather than borrowed frameworks.
He expressed concern over the widening gap between education and employment, noting that while millions of educated youth remain jobless, sectors such as driving, plumbing, welding, mechanics, mobile repair, and AC-refrigerator maintenance are facing a severe shortage of trained workers.
“Lakhs of jobs exist in skill-based sectors, but training infrastructure remains inadequate. Industry and capable members of society must step forward to bridge this gap,” he said.
Dr. Krishna Gopal emphasised that India has historically been a self-reliant society where communities built schools, hospitals, and service institutions without over-reliance on the government. He urged local stakeholders to establish skill centres at the grassroots level.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta described India’s 140 crore population as an asset rather than a liability.
“If we invest in skill development and empower youth, solutions to many national challenges will naturally emerge,” she said, adding that this aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Officials said Samarth Bharat currently operates 87 skill development centres across six states, with plans to expand to all parts of the country in the coming years.
Representatives from several industrial groups attended the event and pledged support for future training initiatives.
Among those present were Ramesh Agarwal (Patron, Samarth Bharat), Om Prakash Goyal (President, Bhaurao Deoras Seva Nyas), and Nandkishore Agarwal (Welcome Chairperson), along with educationists and industry leaders.
