New Delhi, 15th Jan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in a special programme marking a decade of the Startup India initiative on the occasion of National Startup Day on January 16, 2026, at 1 PM at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
During the programme, the Prime Minister will interact with members of India’s rapidly expanding startup ecosystem. Select startup representatives will share insights from their entrepreneurial journeys, highlighting challenges, innovation stories and growth experiences. The Prime Minister will also address the gathering.
Launched on January 16, 2016, Startup India was conceived as a transformative national initiative aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, nurturing innovation and enabling investment-driven growth, with the vision of making India a nation of job creators rather than job seekers.
Over the past decade, Startup India has evolved into a key pillar of India’s economic and innovation framework. It has strengthened institutional mechanisms, improved access to capital and mentorship, and fostered an enabling environment for startups to grow and scale across diverse sectors and regions.
India’s startup ecosystem has witnessed unprecedented growth, with more than 2,00,000 startups recognised nationwide. These enterprises have emerged as major drivers of employment generation, innovation-led development and the strengthening of domestic value chains across sectors.
